Vienna, 24 January 2021: On the occasion of elections in Vienna in October, Election-Watch.EU undertook an assessment of the Viennese Municipal and District Elections under the Conditions of Covid-19. The report, which is based on expert interviews, web-based research and the appraisal of questionnaires, is now to be published. The study was realised by Election-Watch.EU in collaboration with Dr. Friedarike Sandtner und Mag. Gert Michael Binder. For the first time, Election-Watch.EU dedicated its work to a local- level election in Austria, analysing the measures taken by health and electoral administrations to guarantee safe elections under Covid-19 conditions. Best practices and recommendations drawn from these elections are provided in the report. A summary of impressions from the Viennese elections was already published in Wiener Zeitung in German language.
