Stockholm, 18 – 19 May 2021: The OSCE Chairperson-in Office and the OSCE Representative on Freedom of the Media invited Election-Watch.EU to the panel on the role of the media in the democratic process, including elections at the Stockholm Conference on Media Freedom in the OSCE Region (on Wednesday, 19 May 2021, at 14.15 CET). Armin Rabitsch from Election-Watch.EU presented the recommendations of the Policy Paper on AI & Freedom of Expression in political competition & elections, which was written jointly with Rania Wazir and Thomas Treml from the Vienna Data Science Group / Data4Good.
The purpose of this conference was to examine and discuss the implementation of OSCE participating States’ commitments on the right to freedom of opinion and expression and media freedom as an integral part of the OSCE concept of comprehensive security. The conference also provided an opportunity to highlight best practice and address joint challenges regarding media freedom in the OSCE region.
The conference was opened by the Chairperson-in Office, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Sweden, Ann Linde and the OSCE Representative on Freedom of the Media, Teresa Ribeiro.
